Craig Monroe
It is a privilege to live surrounded by beautiful wetlands and to be at the beaches of the Atlantic Ocean. I moved to the Jacksonville area in 1983 and as a native of St. Simons Island, I have always lived on or near the ocean and marshes. As we all lament population growth and the depletion of natural lands, we are fortunate to have many parks and preserved land areas.
My photographs are an attempt to celebrate our beautiful landscapes and seascapes and they were all created within a thirty-mile range of my home in Jacksonville Beach. My photographic methods are very straightforward with emphasis on natural light, using Hasselblad cameras and various lenses along with a solidly built tripod and premium black and film.
